Camel riding is another thing that a tourist can do in Mongolia. This is a very thrilling experience. The tourists should not even worry about not knowing how to ride a camel because they will definitely taught how to go about with the riding. Major Tourist Attractions

Ulaanbaatar
Considering the focal position of Ulaanbaatar, it makes a lot of sense why it is the capital city of Mongolia. This is actually the biggest city of Mongolia and it is completely independent. It has a very vast population of approximately a million citizens. Tourists need to know something about the climatic conditions of Ulaanbaatar. The only time that the sun comes out is during the summer other than that Ulaanbaatar is basically a cold place. It is reputed to be one of the iciest place in the globe. The winter in Ulaanbaatar is not a joke at all. When it comes to the normal temperature pattern of Ulaanbaatar, it is basically -2.4 degrees centigrade or for those who use farthermost it is 27.7 Fahrenheit.

Ulaanbaatar has very beautiful sights like the Sukhbaatar square and tourists are always amazed by this particular site. Sukhbaatar is the statue that harbors historical significance and that is why it is situated in the square.There is also the popular Choijin Lama Monastery that is considered to be holy grounds by Buddhists. There are museums that have stored the history facts of Ulaanbaatar too for example the National Museum of Mongolian History. There is also the artificial lake castle that is one of the best and oldest amusement parks in Ulaanbaatar. Not forgetting the opera house for the music lovers.

The Ulaanbaatar has a bluish flag. The shade of the blue color is the same shade as that of the sky. Or in other terms the flag is sky blue in color and has some sorts of arms in the middle. The arms are known as the garuda arms and the flag is one of the most prided and precious possession of Ulaanbaatar. The meaning of the arms is to reflect the kind of accomplishments that the Ulaanbaatar people have accomplished in the years. That is why the flag is aimed high with a lot of importance and honor.

Orkhon Khurkhree

Orkhon Khurkhree is a magnificent waterfall that can be considered as one of its kind. It falls off the cliff and into the pool, eventually flowing towards Orkhon River. The water of Orkhon is rather cold, but it is definitely suited for bathing. The water is so clear you can go and head for a nice swim. Just keep in mind that almost all Mongols don’t enjoy swimming. So don’t expect locals enjoying the water that much.

Erdene Zuu

Buddhism is a practiced religion in Mongolia. As such, there are several Buddhist monastery established throughout the land. Erdene Zuu is the first ever Buddhist monastery. It is so large it housed more than 1,000 monks at a time.

Then there is the Choijin Lama monastery that is a representations of beautiful architecture. This temple is very old no doubt about it and it is an attraction site because that kind of architecture is not used in this current generation and even prior generations too.

Yolin Am

Yolim Am is referred to as the vulture canyon. If you enjoy trekking while on vacation, this is the spot for you. The canyon is narrow and jagged. It can be a good challenge to expert mountaineers. For others, they can simply take in the beautiful view.When it rains, mini waterfalls run along the canyon’s walls.Yol valley is one of the places that tourists can sight see. Tourists who have been there have been awed by the beautiful valley that is always full of surprises.

The one thing about Yol valley is that it seems icy in extreme winter situations and during the summer, the sound of flowing water brings by serene sentiments. For the tourists who have a high affinity for shopping, they can buy a lot of the Mongolian artifacts whilst there. The artifacts are absolutely beautiful and very valuable and sentimental keepsakes. Gandantegchilen Kloster

Gandan is the largest monastery in Mongolia. And it is still being used up to this day. The monastery is built in 1810 and was destroyed during socialism. The temple was reconstructed in 1990.

Khyatruuni Rashaan

Khyatruunii Rashaan is a mineral spring. Unfortunately, you can’t reach it with a car. To get there, you have to hike. But don’t worry, the pains of going there is all worth it. The place is so serene with blooming meadows.

Naadam

Naadam is actually one of Mongolia’s national holidays and it is celebrated like the Olympics. The only difference is that they fairground and nomad’s games are played instead of today’s popular ball games. Expect horsemen, wrestlers, and archers participating in the events. Naadam festival debuts in the mongolia national sports stadium every summer.

Zaisan Hill
Zaisan Hill is another tourist attraction that is not a disappointment at all. The good thing about Zaisan Hill is that it is located in the city of Ulaanbaatar and thus easy to spot. This attraction site holds very sentimental memories for Mongolians which is contagious to the tourists too. It is practically the memorial ground for world war two militants.

Bayan Zag

Bayan Zag is referred to as the flaming cliffs. It got that name because the ragged rock formed from reddish-brown sediments. This tourist spot is best viewed early in the morning or before the sun goes down. During such times, the cliffs look totally red like giant burning coals.

How to Get There

The Mongolian International Airline’s is Mongolia’s official carrier. There are lots of gateways to Mongolia coming from these cities: Peking, Berlin, Frankfurt, Moscow, Khokh Khot, Osaka, Irkutsk, and Seoul. If you come from these places or are near any of them, getting to Mongolia should not be a problem for you. Otherwise, you can always take the next flight to Peking and go from there.

Traveling Around

Rental cars and taxis are many in Mongolia. Taxis that are operating within the place are either commercial or private. Should you choose to ride one, you have to know where you wanted to be dropped off. Negotiate the fare before hopping into the car. Rental cars are usually rented with the driver. Public transports like buses and subways are also available. For short distances, you might want to ride yaks, horses, or camels for experience.
